DOLEHANTY, Leo Francis  Age 91, of Gaines, died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at his residence under the care of hospice and his family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gaines, with Rev. Fr. Robert McKeon celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-9 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A parish rosary and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Joseph Parish Building Fund. Leo was born August 24, 1912 in Gaines, the son of Daniel J. and Alma E. (Brown) Dolehanty and had lived in Gaines his entire life. He was married to Wilma Lola Gilbert on September 28, 1940 and together they had nine daughters and three sons. Mr. Dolehanty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4th  Degree Knights of Columbus Fenton Council #2031, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Gaines Council #12186. For several years, Mr. Dolehanty blessed and welcomed the newly baptized babies to the parish, as the oldest member of the parish. He was a retired farmer, had worked at Buick Motor Division, as a tool & die maker and had also worked at GM Parts Division in Swartz Creek. Surviving are: children, Julia (James F.) Gooding of Durand, Leo James Dolehanty, Marjorie Straughen, Mary (Don) Allison, Richard (Kathleen) Dolehanty, Ronald (Barbara) Dolehanty, Louise Jarrad, Loretta (Robert) Clifford, Susan (Lany) Mills, Shirley Dolehanty, Kathy Dolehanty, Caroline Dolehanty all of Gaines; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Aurand of Gaines, Ruth Bennetts of Essexville, Harold (Betty) Dolehanty of Rose City, Paul (Ann) Dolehanty of Texas, Clem (Doris) Dolehanty of Gaines, Lawrence Dolehanty of Gaines; sister-in-law, Bette Dolehanty; very special people in his life, Fr. Robert McKeon, Sister Ann Petri, Deacon Currie and Donna Cormier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma on July 30, 1998; two special granddaughters, Amy Sue Jarrad and Jennifer Lyn Mills; son-in-law, Randy Jarrad; former son-in-law, William Straughen; sisters, Thelma Brady and baby Mary Agnes Dolehanty; brothers, Stephen and Max Dolehanty.
