Leland R. Varner

VARNER, Leland Ray Lee  Age 76, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with Rev. Ronald Brokaw officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Tuesday, 1-4 & 6-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.  Lee was born April 11, 1929 in Flint, the son of Elmer and Lena (Brokaw) Varner. He was married to Mary Belle Thoen on July 25, 1959. Mr. Varner retired from Buick in 1987 with 37 years of service.  Surviving are: wife, Mary Belle; children, Darrell E. and wife Kathy, Susan Lee and husband David Oliver, Paul Edward and wife Dawn, Craig Alan and wife Rachel; sister, Edna McDonald; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; uncle, Ronald Brokaw; special daughter, Karen Vollmar; best buddy, Dick Odykirk..
