Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Young Life Genesee County Campership Fund.
Larry was born October 7, 1956, to Doris A. (Wright) Allen and Donald D. Wright. He had three older half-siblings. Larry was forever grateful for a neighbor, Nellie Gilmore, for sending him to a Young Life Camp as this is where he was introduced to Jesus and ultimately accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. He spent many years in YL and became a club leader where the Gospel was presented to high school kids. Larry met Vicky Harmon while going to First Church of the Nazarene, and they married on October 20, 1984. Together they had three sons and he was very proud of all of them. He thoroughly enjoyed going to all their band and choir concerts, always bragging on their talents, watching their solos over and over. Larry started out his medical career as an EMT/paramedic. In 1991 he graduated from Hurley School of Nursing. He was employed at McLaren for several years working in the adolescent psychiatric unit. Eventually he found his way into IT and became the trainer for nurses on how to use the software product. He thoroughly enjoyed his job. Larry loved everything Star Trek, Star Wars, beloved cats Brutus and Alex, playing games with his family and friends, camping and traveling. One of his favorite destinations over the last several years has been the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, both in northern Kentucky. He was very tender-hearted and could be found crying while watching movies and when talking about the way the Lord had been speaking to him. He loved to make people laugh, as lately one of his favorite things to do was find an unattended cell phone and take selfies with it. What a surprise to the owners! He also cherished his two grandchildren and they loved him so much. He was their "Papa". Most of all he treasured his wife, Vicky, doing everything within his power to make her happy. (Happy wife, Happy life!)
Many thanks to the staff of the MICU at Ascension Genesys Hospital who took care of Larry with understanding and compassion.
