Larry Semple Loving husband to Paula, devoted father to Scott, David, and Mark. Loved deeply by his three grandchildren, Megan, Colin and Declan. Larry, a man of great character, having a high sense of honor, and a deep sense of personal responsibility used his experience and compassion for the betterment and guardianship of his family, friends, colleagues, peers, community and strangers alike. Larry, a lifelong civil servant and proud marine corps Vietnam veteran, joined the Harper Woods Police Force in 1971, and through his selfless dedication over 32 years of distinguished service, climbed to the rank of Chief of Police, holding that position for 15 years until his retirement in 2006. The department and community were left stronger through his commitment. Larry contributed to his community by serving on the Board of Directors (BOD)-100 Club of Detroit, BOD-Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, and past president of the Wayne County Chiefs of Police. Larry always helped a person in need. A measure of man, he was recognized, respected and admired by his family and peers as selfless, a leader, role model and mentor whom you could always rely upon.
