Lavern Wykes

WYKES, LaVern Irving - Age 64, of Flint, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Swartz Creek Church of Christ, 4410 Seymour Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. LaVern was born April 2, 1952 in Durand, the son of Irving Baxter and Ida Dean Mae (Berlin) Wykes. He was a 1970 graduate of Swartz Creek High School and then received his Bachelor's Degree from Mott Community College. He retired from McLaren as an Registered Nurse. LaVern has resided in Flint since 1996 coming from Swartz Creek. Surviving are: 5 children, Susan Wykes of Mt. Morris, Melissa Wykes of Flint, Jason (Erin) Wykes of Flint, Elicia (Issac) Sanchez of New Hudson, and Chad Wykes of Flint; 9 grandchildren, April, Timmy, Canton, Austin, Devann, Alana, Dekota, Dustin, Mateo; great granddaughter, Nevaeh; siblings, Lenora (Seeley) Mangus, Laureen (Ron) Hazel, Leon (Maxine) Wykes, Lawrence (Fonda) Wykes, Louellen (George) Nemes, Lillian (David) Keys, Loretta Cooper, and Larry (Kathy) Wykes; sister-in-law, Vicky Wykes; several nieces and nephews.
