Laurel Jean MOFFITT

MOFFIT, Laurel Jean - age 81, of Vernon, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 11, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Gerald Sever officiating. Interment will follow at Hinton Twp. Cemetery in Altona, MI. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. An O.E.S. Memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday followed by a Masonic Memorial. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Owosso Cancer Center or the Children's Miracle Network. Mr. Moffit was born July 18, 1928 in Morley, MI, the son of Leonard and Daisy (Grover-Lewis) Moffit. He was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School. Mr. Moffit married Virginia Joyce Templeton on July 9, 1955 and she preceded him in death on February 26, 2009. Mr. Moffit retired from the State of Michigan Highway Department in 1988 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Byron Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and York Rite. Surviving are: 3 children, Timothy (Alayne) Moffit, Bonnie Moffit, Sean Moffit; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Moffit; sister, Doris Aewood; sister-in-law, Joanne Moffit; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Dora Christenson, Harry adn Janet Templeton, Gary and Pat Templeton, Janice and Ed French-Reeser.
