Laura Spillers

Spillers, Laura  Marie- Age 87, of Fenton, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2022. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes,  1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Vince Slocum and Pastor Steven Henry will officiate. Burial will be held privately at Great Lakes National Cemetery . Visitation will be held 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 15 and 11:00 am until the time of service at 12noon Wednesday at the funeral home.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Family.

Laura was born July 5, 1935 in Gladwin, Michigan, the daughter of Wilmer and Pearl (Cann) Young. She was homecoming queen and her date was her future husband, Herman. She graduated from Gladwin High School in 1953. She married Herman L. Spillers in Gladwin on July 17, 1953; he preceded her in death on August 5, 2011. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to taking care of her family. She also worked as a home healthcare caregiver for many years. She was a longtime member of Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, and served on many committees and delivered food to the shut ins. She enjoyed painting, going to garage sales, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Jan (Larry) Hulverson of Millington, Dale Spillers of Fenton, Doug (Denny) Spillers of Alborn, MN; daughters-in-law, Linda Spillers and Kim Spillers; grandchildren, Amy, Claire (Josh), Missy, MaryLynn, Travis (Jessie), Drew, Christian, and Josie; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; her children, Deri Spillers, Rod Spillers, and Jeff Spillers; several siblings, including her twin brother, Lawrence.
