WRIGHT, Larry Lee - Age 81, of Flint, died Friday, February 4, 2022. Larry was born on Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Homer and Elaine (Lewis) Wright. After graduating from Flint Central High School in 1959 Larry honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. Larry married Donna Rule in Flint on October 10, 1964. Larry retired from Buick, a division of General Motors, on August 1, 1994 after 31 years of service; he was an active member of UAW Local 599. Growing up Larry enjoyed playing marbles, cards (double-deck Pinochle), and basketball in Ballenger Park. After retiring he could often be found making tissue boxes and other crafts out of plastic canvas and yarn, playing Shanghai Rummy, visiting Gettysburg and other Civil War sites, reading biographies (sports and Abraham Lincoln), or listening to country music (Hank Williams, Patsy Cline).
Remembering Larry with love are his wife of 57 years, Donna; daughters: Sheri (Mario) Silva, Connie (Scott) Mendoza, and Debbie (Craig) Steffey; grandchildren: Tyler and Morgan Steffey, Salomon (Mirtha), Iris, Robert, and Samuel Silva, and Celia Mendoza; great-grandson: Manuel Silva; brother: Donnie Wright, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Ken Wright, and sisters: Barb Bogard and Joyce Byrne.
Direct burial is to take place in Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris. A summer memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
