SMITH, Larry G. - Age 72, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor Michael Haines officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 6-9 PM and Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Larry was born August 14, 1938 in Durand, the son of Elton Lona Laurence and Reda Elizabeth (Posey) Smith. He was a 1957 graduate of Flint Northern High School and received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan. He had worked as a logger in northwest Montana as a young man, served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and he was a Michigan Licensed Private Investigator for the majority of his working career. He had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 15 years. Larry is survived by: daughter, Tanya Coburn and three grandchildren, Clayton, Erica and Brandy; two brothers, M.W. (Mel) Smith of Flint Township and Lon E. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
