MONTGOMERY, Larry Doyle "Monty" - Age 60, of Traverse City, and a former Flint resident, died unexpectedly March 13, 2007 in Traverse City. Larry was born on January 4, 1947 in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of Ruby Fern (Fancher) and Doyle Sherman Montgomery. Larry proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and then earned his Bachelor's Degree at Central Michigan University. He also was an active member of the Omega Phi Kappa Fraternity while attending Flint JCC. Larry married Susan Marie Kingman on December 20, 1986 in Davison. Larry was a social worker with the Genesee County Department of Human Services. Following his retirement, he pursued his new career as a glass artist. He and Susan moved to New Mexico for three years and then moved to Traverse City. Larry will always be rememberd for his jokes and wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed bringing laughter into any situation. Possessing a special gift of conversation, Larry enjoyed visiting with everybody. He made everyone around him feel at ease. His gifts, enthusiasm and friendship will be deeply missed. Larry is survived by his wife, Susan Kingman of Traverse City; his special buddies Magic and Sebastian; sisters, Mary (Grant) Love of Durand, Patti Jo (Tony) Mlynek and niece, Whitney of Swartz Creek; nephew and family, Tony (Jennifer) Boyd and their children, Zachary and Carson of Swartz Creek; brother-in-law, Timothy Kingman of Houghton. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Larry's life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.
