Larry Dean Cross

CROSS, Larry Dean - Age 82, of Gaines, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, December 6, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Larry's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Daniel Patz officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

Larry was born February 21, 1942 in Barnesville, OH, the son of Emerson and Mary Louise (Tolbert) Cross. He was a 1960 graduate of Flushing High School. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He married Deborah Lynn Smith August 30, 2002 in Swartz Creek. Larry retired January 1, 2004 from GM Parts in Swartz Creek after 41 1/2 years of service. He was a life member of the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. He also was a member of Swartz Creek American Legion Post #294 and Durand Eagles Aerie #3851. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching and playing baseball and basketball. 

Surviving are: his wife, Debbie; children, Tammy (Steve) Woodley of Pinckney, Larry Cross II of Flint, James (Tracie) Thompson of Linden and Clayton (Sarah) Thompson of Gaines; grandchildren, Lucas Cross, Cameron Cross, Alexis (Brent) Leist and Gage and Madeline Thompson; great grandson, Asher Leist; brothers, Robert Cross of Gaines and Chuck (Doris) Cross of North Carolina; sister, Marcia (Mike) Unger of Flushing; sisters-in-laws, Barbara DeCaire of Flushing, Jodi Stiles of Lennon and Christine Smith of Lennon; brother-in-law, Terry (Kelly) Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
