Larry Allen Bush

BUSH, Larry Allen - age 73, died November 9, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Larry Bush Memorial Fund. Larry was born April 29, 1950, in Flint, the son of George and Martha (Miller) Bush. He was a 1968 graduate from Swartz Creek High School and received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1972. Bush co-owned and co-operated with his family Creamline Dairy Farms and Bush Farms for many years. Mr. Bush was well known in the Genesee County community and beyond for being an organizer of many area fairs, including the state 4-H programs, Swartz Creek Hometown Days, and the Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest. Many even referred to him as “Mr. Swartz Creek.” He was inducted into the Michigan Association of Fairs and Expositions Hall of Fame. Larry was a charter member of Cross Congregational Church and he was also an active member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Genesee County chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. Surviving are: three children, Brandy (Robert) Gilmer of Linden; Larry (Eva) Bush II of Flushing and Barry (Kirstin) Bush of Flushing; nine grandchildren, Jacob Gilmer, Elizabeth (Andrew) Burns, and Alexandria Gilmer, Benjamin and Naomi Bush, Juliana, Drew, Ellery, and Adelynn Bush; two sisters, Julie (Mark) Taylor of Flushing and Jonie (Matthew) Johnson of Sunnyvale, TX; many nieces and nephews; former spouse, Janet Bush of Flushing.
