Lafayette William Withey

WITHEY, Lafayette William -- Age 76, of Linden, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his residence. Services will be 1 PM Friday, July 22 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Cemetery Memorial Fund. Mr. Withey was born July 10, 1935 in Lansing the son of Lafayette Joseph Withey and Jennie Mae (Stroud) Withey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. He married Mary Ellen Watts on September 19, 1959 at Trintity Lutheran Church in Fenton. He had resided in the Linden/Argentine area since 1968. Mr. Withey retired from Lloyd Tool and Manufacturing in Burton in 2007 with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the VFW and the NRA. He was a founding member of the Argentine Fire Department. He enjoyed gun collecting, hunting, and fishing. He was a proud and loving grandfather. Surviving are: wife Mary Ellen; two sons, David and wife Corinne of Linden, Tim and wife Trish of Louisville, KY; three grandsons, Josh and Joe of Linden, Patrick of Louisville, KY.
