WASHINGTON, Kresenthe La'Jon "Kres" - age 50, of Grand Blanc, MI, died unexpectedly on January 16, 2024. The loss of Kres has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at The River Church, located at 9430 Perry Rd, Goodrich, MI 48438. The service will be officiated by Pastor Caleb Combs of The River Church and Pastor LaMarcus Keels of United Outreach Ministries. Prior to the funeral, visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 12-4 PM (Washington family will be present to received friends and family) and 6-8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Additional visitation will take place from 10 AM to 11 AM at the church on the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kres Washington Memorial Fund c/o Sharp Funeral Homes. Kres was born on January 17, 1973 in Flint, MI to Ricardo and Melinda Pauline (Huddlleston) Washington. He grew up in Flint, MI and graduated from The Valley School and later the University of Michigan. On March 31, 2012, he married Tara Marie Mandock. Kres was a dedicated U.A.W. Safety Representative at the GM Lake Orion plant. He approached his work with passion and diligence every day. Outside of work, Kres found joy in cheering for his beloved University of Michigan and Detroit Lions teams. His enthusiasm for sports spilled into his involvement with youth sports throughout Genesee County. Recently he devoted himself to supporting his children's sports teams in Goodrich. One striking quality about Kres was his ability to make everyone he spoke to feel special. His infectious charisma and genuine kindness attracted people. He had a remarkable gift for brightening rooms and lifting the spirits of those around him. His absence will be deeply felt by the community. Kres is survived by his loving wife, Tara, and their three children, Miles, Raegan, and Grant. He also leaves behind his brother, Reginald James; sister, India Washington; two aunts, Rosalie Glaspie and Sondra Huddleston; uncle, Rodney Washington; parents-in-law, Christine and Terry Mandock; brother-in-law, Brian (Stacy) Mandock; Godson, Landon Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Washington; mother, Melinda Washington; and grandparents. Kres' legacy will endure in the memories of all those who were privileged to have known him.
