Kennith "Ken" Scott

SCOTT, Kennith "Ken" Lee- Age 75, of  Flushing, died  Saturday July 11, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to local animal rescue groups, Friends of Genesee County Animal Shelter, Inc., PAWS Animal Rescue, Genesee County Humane Society or any rescue or charity of choice. Ken held a special place in his heart for all animals. Ken was born July 31, 1944 in Hickman, KY, the son of the late Paul Herman and Zona Lee (Lamb) Scott. He married Joanne Hicks on May 1, 1965 in Flint.  Ken dedicated his life to helping others. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1962 and spent 46 years at GM Buick, serving as a Union Representative for most of that time. Ken was a UAW 599 member, serving as Committeeman, Shop Committeeman, Chairman of Shop Committee as well as International Representative for Region 1D. He was a referee for Flint City Basketball League & umpire for local UAW Softball games for many years. Ken was currently Chairman of the Board of Directors at Security Credit Union where he served in many capacities over the last 35 plus years. Ken received many prestigious honors during his time as a UAW representative but valued his friendships first and foremost. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved the idea of one more road trip with his buddies. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Joanne Scott; son, Cary (Jennifer)Scott; grandchildren, Kaylyn, Christian, Kiera, Absalon (A.J.), Sydney and Savannah. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald (Sandra), Ronald (Lana), Gary (Susan), sisters-in-law, Paula (Barry) Shanahan and Linda (Rich) Hicks; brother-in-law, Dale (Sascha) Hicks; many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as a long list of lifelong friends he considered family. Ken was preceded also in death by his brothers, Raymond and Paul; sister Carolyn. Tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
