LOWRIE, Kenneth (Ken) F. - age 75, of Swartz Creek, Michigan, passed away on May 1, 2023. Ken was born on December 4, 1947, in Owosso, Michigan to Donald and Majel Lowrie. He was an accomplished student-athlete who graduated from the Michigan School for the Deaf, where he excelled in both football and track. For 32 years, Ken worked at the General Motors V-8 Engine Plant in Flint, Michigan, where he began and ended his career. Beyond his work, Ken had a passion for the great outdoors often taking his family on vacation to Arden, Ontario. He was an avid hunter, with a particular love for caribou in Quebec, and he eagerly searched for the elusive morel mushroom every May. Ken was also an active member of the Owosso Association of the Deaf and the Flint Association of the Deaf, where he regularly met with friends to play Euchre, Lucky 52, and socialize. Ken is survived by his wife Judy Ann, four children, Todd (Jeni), Mikki (Kyle), Kristi (Vato), and Ashlin (Clare), and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Steve). Ken was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Majel, and brother, Danny. Ken did not wish to have a funeral. Instead, we will celebrate Ken’s life on Sunday, May 21 from 1-4pm at the Flint Association for the Deaf at 4156 Holiday Drive. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to the Flint Association for the Deaf in memory of Kenneth Lowrie. May you bask in the sounds of nature as Teddy Bear eagerly wags his tail and waits for you underneath the elm tree surrounded by thousands of morel mushrooms.
