Flint

Kenneth "Ken" W. Berg, age 70, of Flint, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 3:00pm at:
St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1922 Iowa Avenue in Flint, MI 48506. The family asks that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Online condolences can be shared at: www.sharpfuneralhome.com.

Ken was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 25, 1952, to the late Walter & Glenda Berg. He graduated in 1970 from John Glen High School in Bay City, MI and continued his education by earning his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1989. He married Deborah Bryce on June 19, 1971. Ken was an outdoor enthusiast; he simply enjoyed being in nature and admiring God’s creation. He studied herbology and botany. He was well-versed in plants; a walk in the woods with Ken would easily turn into a lesson on which species were edible or not. He was an avid beekeeper for many years and enjoyed harvesting and sharing his honey with family and friends. Being an engineer, Ken enjoyed all kinds of logic puzzles and mind/skill challenges both on paper and in life. He was extremely detail oriented and never stopped learning. He volunteered at St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center for years teaching Quilting. His family and friends will miss his thoughtfulness, generous heart, and his willingness to express to others a different perspective on everything in life.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; his two children, Michele (Joseph) VanSicklen and Matthew (Angie) Berg; 10 grandchildren, Anthony (Tangie), Noah, Mayci, Benjamin (Olivia), Madison, Christian, MaKayla, Danielle, Alyssa and Jayden; 4 great-grandchildren, Xavier, Athena, Adora and Timothy. He was also survived by many other family members and loved ones.
