LARSON, Kenneth J. - Age 76, of Fife Lake, MI, formerly of Hartland, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2007. Ken was born June 22, 1931 in Flint, MI. In his quiet way he was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend. Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Toni Larson; eight children, Mark (Cynthia) Larson of Hartland, Susan (Bob) Hutchings of Marshall, David Larson of Richardson, TX, Lori Larson of Hartland, Janice Larson of South Lyon, Paula (Chris) George of Knoxville, TN, Craig Larson of Webberville and Carol Larson of South Lyon; two sisters and one brother, Gail (Pete) Hutchison of Fenton, Cathy (Tom) Skellet of Flint and Tom (Martha) Larson of Houston, TX; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandfather of 9, soon to be 10, and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Beatrice Larson; and two brothers, Richard and Bruce Larson. Ken was a proud member of the US Marine Corp. and was a veteran of the Korean War, in which he was an expert marksman. He was a former POW and escaped his captors. Ken received an Honorable Discharge from service in 1952. He served his country and family well and was patriotic and humble with a deep understanding of what freedom meant and what was required to maintain those freedoms. A 1957 graduate of MSU, Ken was a joyful and loyal Spartie to the end. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with family and friends. Ken liked working with his hands and the creation process. He had a mischievous streak, a terrific sense of humor, and was always interested in learning new thigs about the world and other people. Ken was the Assessor for Fife Lake Township for 7 years. In prior years, he worked as a project manager/supervisor and a homebuilder for 30 years. A memorial service will be held at Sharp Funeral Home, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, MI, on Friday, July 6, 2007. Visitation with family begins at 10 AM, the service begins at 11:30 AM. Cremation has taken place. Immediately following the memorial service will be a graveside ceremony at 1 PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
