Kenneth Harrington

January 28, 1929 — January 3, 2021

HARRINGTON, KENNETH MILTON of Swartz Creek, MI, Age 91, died peacefully at his residence Sunday, January 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. A private graveside service has been planned at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Ken was born in Flint, Michigan, January 28, 1929, the son of Elton and Erma Harrington. He attended Flint Northern High School, also proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. November 10, 1956, Ken married his life-long love, Genevieve (Genny) Tomczyk. Together they raised 4 children while working at Summerfield/Albert Chevrolet from 1953 until his retirement in 1994. Even after retirement Ken worked part time as a parts delivery person for Albert Chevrolet. As it turns out, Ken had quite the green thumb, and over the years, transformed his backyard into a lush flower and vegetable garden and loved nothing more than giving away the ‘fruits of his labor’ to friends and family. More recently, Ken "adopted" five feral cats he fed like clockwork twice daily. Ken leaves behind  to cherish his memory, his loving wife Genny; sons Kenneth (Shirley) of Grand Blanc, MI; Gary (Peggy) of Grand Blanc, MI; daughters Karen (David) of Swartz Creek, MI; Paula (Eddy) of Swartz Creek, MI; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was also a happy "Grand-Paw" to three fur babies who brought him much comfort and joy. Earlier in life, he was an avid hunter. Later in life, he more enjoyed just being outdoors, observing wildlife, feeding his backyard birds and traveling throughout Northern Michigan with Genny. Also, you could find him enjoying many hours of nature shows and the history channel on television. He was a wonderful father and loving husband and a hard worker all of his life. He will be dearly missed and was loved beyond measure. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Ronnie, and three sisters, Ruth, Helen and Donna. Ken was a dedicated life-long blood donor. Please consider donating blood in his honor to help save a life as he has helped save many.
