Kenneth Dale Gocha, aged 92, passed away on November 12, 2024, in Linden, MI. Born on April 14, 1932, Ken was known for his industrious and hardworking nature, combined with his deep love for Jesus Christ and his generous spirit in helping others.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30am Friday, November 15, 2024 at Flint Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 Bristol Rd., Flint. Pastor Jon Gildner officiating. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service.
Born and raised in Michigan, he and his mother moved to Fullerton, CA, for a brief period, where he attended high school. Upon completion of high school, Ken proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Meyer, at a dance (though she often joked that he wasn't much of a dancer). He then embarked on a 30-year career as a Tool and Die Maker at AC Delco.
A significant turning point in Ken's life occurred in his thirties when he was invited to a small Methodist church. It was there that he gave his life to Jesus Christ, an experience so profound that he returned home without his coat in the middle of winter. Later, he became a devoted member of the Flint Central Church of the Nazarene. Ken's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with those around him.
Anyone who knew Ken recognized his passion for building and designing automobiles and recreational vehicles. His mind was always active, and his family will remember him in his favorite place-his garage. He built motorhomes, travel trailers, homes, dune buggies, and cars. He loved attending car shows often showcasing his own creations. A fitness enthusiast, he remained active well into his 80s, enjoying weightlifting, biking, and even purchasing a treadmill a couple of years back. He was always focused and extremely tenacious to keep moving and active.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary Lou Gocha; 3 children and their spouses Timothy and Debby Gocha, Brenda and Gary Lavigne, and Michelle and Greg Frank; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Gocha, two brothers, and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ken's memory may be made to Samaritan's Purse, Billy Graham Association, and Carriage Town Ministries-organizations that reflect his commitment to aiding others and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ken's greatest prayer was for everyone to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to dedicate their lives to Him. He was forever changed after meeting Jesus on this earth and will now spend eternity in his heavenly home, possibly working in the building and transportation department.
