Stewart, Kay Frances. Age 80, of Fenton, formerly of Grand Blanc, MI, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday December, 7, at St. John the Evangelist, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430. Visitation will be held an hour prior at 10AM. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Outreach.
Kay was born March 5, 1944 in Monroevile, IN, the daughter of Burton Carrier and Bonita Hart. She was a 1962 graduate of South Side High School in Ft. Wayne, IN. She became a R.N., graduating from Parkview School of Nursing in 1965. On January 22, 1966, Kay married Lawrence Christman in Ft. Wayne. They started a family and moved to MI where they shared over 30 years of marriage and 4 children together.
Kay worked as a R.N. for an OB/GYN for many years, then retired from home health care at the end of her career.
She was always a woman of faith and raised her children to have a close relationship with God. After her divorce, she moved to Fenton and was remarried to Thomas Lambert. She became a member of St. John the Evangelist. Thomas passed away on February 6, 2009.
Kay was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma sorority, participated in many bible studies and book clubs, belonged to The Endow Study Group and participated in the CHRP retreats at St. John. She ran “The Second Tuesday Club” for over 55 year olds, which is where she met Robert Stewart.
Kay and Robert fell in love and he proposed to her at a Wednesday morning bible study in front of 150 people, they were like teenagers in love! They married on August 8, 2015 at St. John Chapel.
Kay loved reading, walking her dog, shopping, dancing, traveling and volunteering her time and efforts to the church. First and foremost, she was completely dedicated to her children and their families. She was truly a living angel.
Surviving are: four children, Chris (Becky) Christman of Howell, MI, Susan Kay of Poway, CA, Charles (Julia) Christman of Birmingham, MI, Carrie (Cory) Bristol of Grand Blanc, MI; eleven grandchildren, Whitney Ludwig, Cara Christman, Sophia Ludwig, Carly Christman, Forrest Ludwig, Courtney Christman, Anabel Christman, Ozlo Bristol, Gabriel Christman, Axel Bristol and Vin Bristol; four siblings, Beth (John) Muntzinger of Haines City, FL, Stella (Thane) Thatcher of Colombus, OH, Rex Carrier of Ft. Wayne, IN and Lisa Gibson of New Haven, IN.
She was also preceded in death by her parents Burton (Jean) Carrier, Bonita (Ralph) Carrier; and two sisters, Deanna Wilson and Robin Carrier.
