SCHEMPF, Kawin Marie - Age 84 of Flushing. Went home to meet her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 with her special friend and caregiver, Glenna Maxwell at her side. She was born in Flint, Michigan on August 13, 1931. Her parents were William and Mary Lutz. She attended Dye High School and Owosso Bible College. Kawin married Melvin Schempf in 1972 and enjoyed a wonderful life with him until his death in November 2000. She had two sons; Garold Kinnamon and Stephen Kirby that also preceded her in death. Kawin was a well known pianist and accompanist, having played in many churches beginning at the age of sixteen. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church but also had a wonderful "church family" at Faith Missionary as well as several other churches. She was a person who loved encouraging people. She was a faithful prayer partner to many. Kawin loved to make and give handmade crafts to her many friends. She will be remembered for her joy in reaching people with her beautiful handmade cards. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Karen Kirby and her grandson, Casey Kirby. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Juanita Lutz of Fort Mill, SC., sister-in-law, Carol Schempf; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and the most special friends any person was ever privileged to have; some were lifelong friends and some were more recent. The family is grateful for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Hyde Park Memory Care, Hospice and the unwavering attention she received from two friends, Pat Bassett and Glenna Maxwell. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering to celebrate her life from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on March 28, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her name to Carriage Town Ministries.
