May 21, 1919 — November 3, 2005

SPILLANE, Kathryn Marie- Age 86, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, November 3,2005 in Ohio.  Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, November 7, 2005 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor J.D. Landis officiating.  Burial in Lovejoy Cemetery, Durand. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home; Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek from 1-9 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Spillane was born May 21, 1919 in South Bend, IN the daughter of Michael and Terez (Kovacs)Hegedus. She served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army (W.A.C.)from 1943 until 1945.  She married Durward J.Spillane November 8, 1947 in Flint and he preceded her in death February 23, 2002.  She retired from Swartz Creek Community Schools in 1979 after 23 years of service as a Bookkeeper. She was a resident of Swartz Creek for many years and a was member Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.  Surviving are: 3 children, Susan and husband Thomas Pouillon of Harrison, James and wife Nancy Spillane of Steamboat Springs, CO, Durward J. 'Mick' and wife Janet Spillane of Medina, OH; 8 grandchildren, Christina and husband Michael Leasher, Jacqueline and husband Donald LaFay, Thomas and wife Danielle Pouillon, John, Katie, Samuel, Matthew and Katie Spillane;  4 great grandchildren, Nichole, Meagan and Max Leasher and Hunter Pouillon; several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Louis and Steve Hegedus; 2 sisters, Anna Kindt and Ethel Burnett.
