SMITH, Kathryn Louise - Age 71, of Swartz Creek, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. Per Kathryn's request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church of Flint with interment in the columbarium at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Flint or charity of one's choice.
Kathryn was born June 6, 1951 in Flint, the daughter of Alfred Harding and Edith Marion Smith. She was 1969 graduate of Flint Central High School and she received her Bachelor's and Master Degree from University of Michigan Flint. She had resided in Swartz Creek most of her life. Kathryn was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and a reading consultant for the past 17 years at Bendle Elementary Schools. She was a long standing member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint where she served as a choir and orchestra member, Deacon and in the young children's ministry. She loved music and was an accomplished singer and also played the Trumpet and French Horn.
Surviving are: brother, Gary F. (Janice K.) Smith of Flushing; sister, Lorraine R. Smith of Spartanburg, SC; nephew, Eric M. (Jennifer) Smith of Cincinnati, OH; niece, Sara M. (Michael ) Agee of Cincinnati, OH; aunt, Ruth Temple of California; best friend, Kathy Kerr of Knoxville, TN; and many dear cousins, dear friends and associates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred H. and Edith M. Smith. The family was assisted in providing Kathy's hospice care in their home by Absolute Hospice of Grand Blanc and wishes to thank the staff for their loving and compassionate care.
