Kathryn Irene Dent

Dent, Kathryn Irene  - Age 85, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully, with her family and friends by her side, on June 25, 2023.

Services will be held 1 PM Wednesday July 5 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 12 PM until the time of the service at 1 PM on Wednesday July 5. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (www.npcf.us) or Genesys Health Foundation-Genesys Sanctuary Garden. 

Kathryn was born June 27, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Irene (Wicklander) Steinmetz. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan where Kathy graduated from the Edwin C. Denby High School in 1955, then went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Muskingum College. She began her teaching career with the Centerline School District in 1959 and eventually retired from the Swartz Creek School System.  She married Norman Dent on January 5, 1980 and he preceded her in death on December 28, 2009. After Kathy's retirement, she worked for Macy's for over 20 years and volunteered at the Buick Open, American House in Rochester and EverGreen Greenhouse at Ascension Genesys Hospital. She was a member of the Open Gate Garden Club, Grand Blanc Women's Club, Vis-A'-Vis Society and First Presbyterian Church in Flint.

Kathy is survived by many loving family members and dear friends, and she was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother; and sister.
