WALTERS, Katherine J. "Katie" - age 64, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, August 10, 2007 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Amos Wischmeyer celebrant. Interment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 5-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society. Katherine was born September 26, 1942 in IL, the daughter of Roy Charles and Virginia I. (Hudson) Loepke. She was a graduate of the University of Indiana and received a Masters Degree from Central Michigan University. Katherine married Joe Walters on April 7, 1962. Katherine was a teacher, counselor and Assistant Director at Swartz Creek Community Schools retiring in 1998. Surviving are: husband, Joe of Swartz Creek; son, Roy Kenneth Walters; daughter, Veronica F. Walters, both of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Mary Alice Schaeffer of VA; she was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents.
