Katherine Eikey

Katherine M. Eikey, age 94, of Flint, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022 at 11AM at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road in Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 starting at 4PM until the Vigil service at 7PM at Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Visitation will resume on Friday at church starting at 10AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Katherine was born on March 18, 1928, in Little Falls, MN, to the late Joseph (Florence) Askler. She graduated from the Michigan School for the DEAF (MSD), where she met Willard. She and Willard married in 1951, and were blessed with two children, Brenda and Kevin. Katherine went on to work for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was known for her artistic talents: sewing, crochet and crafting various projects. Some of her favorite pieces were Halloween costumes and clothes.  She was a member of a Women's Card Club for 50 years.  Katherine was also an active member the Flint Association of the Deaf.  Katherine stayed busy in her social life until her strength wouldn't allow her to travel independently. She loved her family, cooking and traveling.

Katherine is survived by her two children, Brenda Tushim and Kevin (Lisa) Eikey; her five grandchildren, Adrian (Patti), Scott (April), Kat (Gabriel), Benjamin (Megan) and Erik (Jillian); five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Cheyenne, Alex, Monique and Layne. She is further survived by many other dear family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Willard and two brothers, Fred Askler and Gerald Askler. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Medical Team Hospice, and the staff at Woodhaven,  they will hold a special place in our heart.
