Katherine Lenore DOHERTY

DOHERTY, Katherine "Kay" Lenore (Bidinger) - Age 94, of Ann Arbor formerly of Flint, died Monday, November 8, 2010. Her children will host a memorial celebration of her life this Saturday, June 25, 12:00 at the Flint Institute of Art. Mrs. Doherty was born March 21, 1916 in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of L.F. and Katherine (Jenson) Bidinger. Mrs. Doherty attended the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was a partner in the family business in Kenosha, WI before moving to Michigan. She married Patrick Roche Doherty May 21, 1949 in Kenosha, WI. He preceded her in death October 22, 2002. Mrs. Doherty was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Twentieth Century Club, the Flint Institute of Arts, the University Club, the Flint Golf Club, Otsego Ski Club, The Western Hills Club, Flint Swim and Racquet Club, Flint Tennis Club, and the Junior League of Flint. A lover of art and modern design, Mrs. Doherty enjoyed many years of sculpture classes at the Flint Institute of Arts. She loved gardening and was an avid sports fan. Surviving are: 2 children, son, Patrick Roche Doherty, Jr. of Oscoda and daughter, Susan Elizabeth Doherty and her husband M. Syed Ali of San Francisco, CA; grandson, John Doherty of Oscoda; brother, F.L. Bidinger of Milwaukee, WI; and 3 nieces and 4 nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
