Katharine Gallop

Katharine Avis Gallop took her final breath, Monday, February 7, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial service will be held 2 PM Monday, July 4, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Katharine's service will be live streamed and may be viewed on her obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. The sun rose and the world welcomed Katharine on July 4, 1958, a day the world became a little brighter. She lived a full and warm life filled with passion, laughter, and love. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by many.
Retired from General Motors after 30 years as a journeyman welder, she was a leader of women. She was one of the very first women to graduate from the program. Leader in both Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA. Katharine was an active member of El Said Court #28 in Flint, MI and Nefertiti Court #84 in New Port Richey, FL, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She led El Said Court as High Priestess in 2004-2005. Katharine was also a member of Linden # 175, Order of Easter Star for a few years. As a member of the Detroit and Tampa Bay Parrothead clubs, she enjoyed many Jimmy Buffett concerts. Katharine loved to travel! Most recently taking her long awaited trip to Hawaii to see her grandchildren.
Katharine (Gigi, Mom, Kate, Avis) is survived by her son Nicholas (Katie) Cotton, daughter Amanda (Brian) Fontaine. Four grandchildren: Owen, Kaia, Aiden and Audrey Fontaine, dog Queen Margarita, and three granddogs: Penny, Mateo and Teddy; as well as her siblings, Arthur (Jan) Gallop and family, and Maxine (George) Nennstiel and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rosina Gallop, and the love of her life, Lyle Resseguie.
