MACKEY-ZINK, Kari S. - Age 59, of Swartz Creek, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2020, after a 4 month struggle with multiple health issues. Due to the current shelter in place orders, no services are taking place at this time. Kari was born on May 28, 1960, in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Myron and Beverlee (Stone) Mackey. She grew up in Flint, and when young was an active member of the Girl Scouts and the Stepping Stones. She was baptized into and attended the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kari graduated from Flint Southwestern High School and the University of Michigan, where she earned 2 bachelor degrees. Kari married the love of her life, Dallas Zink on February 18th, 1984, and they had a wonderful life together. She was a lifelong musician, playing the cello and piano, and singing. She played cello as a member of the Flint Junior Symphony Orchestra. Kari worked for the City of Flint in several capacities, and retired after working as a 911 dispatcher for many years. Kari loved the outdoors, driving her Mustang convertible, the “Kari Z” speedboat and riding Sea-Doos at their lakefront cottage. She and Dallas were avid snowmobile riders and belonged to the Michigan Snowmobile Association and the Snomads Snowmobile Club. They took many long trips together on their machines. Kari was a member of the NRA, and supported Veteran's groups.
