SCHAUWECKER, Karen Lee - age 83 of Fenton formerly of Plymouth, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of Mass Friday at the church. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee County.
Karen was born March 3, 1941 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Jerome Elliot and Maxine (Reis) Cale. She attended Eastern Michigan University on a scholarship. Karen married William Schauwecker February 5, 1966 in Dearborn Heights. She was a very talented seamstress. She also enjoyed genealogy research, quilting and made tapestries for St. John Newman Catholic Church in Canton. Karen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Fenton.
Surviving are: her children, Eric Schauwecker of Fenton, Susan (Ben) Owen of Roanoke, VA, and Kristi Schauwecker of Plymouth, and step-daughter, Gaby Weck of Germany; 6 grandchildren, Alexandria (Mike), Joseph, Stephen, Eleanor, Patrick, and Elliot; 3 great grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan, and Jude; and several nieces and nephews.
