Karen Jane LePARD

LePARD, Karen Jane (Schalk) - Age 67, of Fenton, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00PM Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton, with Fr. David Harvey celebrating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton 3-8 PM Friday and at church Saturday from 12:30 PM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society. Karen was born November 24, 1942 in Detroit, the daughter of William Thomas and Josina Lucina (Moons) Schalk. She was a 1960 graduate of Servite Catholic High School in Detroit. She married James Frederick LePard February 9, 2001 in Hawaii and he preceded her in death April 14, 2010. Karen retired in 2002 from GMSPO with 23 years of service. She also owned Karen's Creations and worked part time for Mos'Art Jewelers. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Sigma Phi Gamma. Surviving are: 2 sons, Del and wife Mercy Burke of Readono Beach, CA and Dean and wife Bridget Burke of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Alexis Burke; stepson, Steven James LePard of Nashville, TN; stepdaughter, Susan Judith and husband Martin Ehman of Chelsea; 2 brothers, Gary and wife Paula Schalk of Shelby Twp. and Thomas and wife Phyllis Schalk of Lake Orion; sister, Eileen and husband Stan Nowak of McComb Twp; several nieces and nephews.
