Karen Lawson

LAWSON, Karen Kay - Age 74, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday July 23, 2020. Funeral services will be held 4PM Friday, July 31, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 1PM until time of service Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the McLaren Hospitality House. Karen was born May 14, 1946 in Traverse City, the daughter of Alvin R. and Dorothy I. (Flees) Bussey. She graduated from St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic High School in Lake Leelanau class of 1964 and earned her Associates degree in Nursing from Northwestern Michigan College in 1966. Karen had a lifelong career in nursing. She retired from Hurley Hospital with 25 years of service, McLaren-Flint with 15 years of service and five years of service with Davita Dialysis. Karen loved to travel, enjoyed gardening, baking, decorating, shopping, making crafts, working jigsaw puzzles, and recently started to paint again. Karen enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Surviving are: three daughters, Kelly Lawson of Swartz Creek, Kristi (William) Lawson-Weber of Grand Blanc, Kimberly Lawson of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Andrew Weber and Rebecca Masters; She is also survived by her special nieces, Tracy and Dawn; 3 siblings, Sandra Winowiecki (Gerald) of Northport, Debra Mann (Michael) of Omena, and Gregory Bussey of Kalamazoo; many nieces, nephews; close friends, Linda, Gerta, Jan, Cindy and Lil' Kim.
