Karen Deneau

DENEAU, Karen Casey - Age 67, of Swartz Creek Michigan, passed away on Thursday July 8, 2021 after a short but intense battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Sunday July 18, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the time of service Sunday. Karen was born in Detroit on May 3, 1954 to Frederick and June (Bryant) Casey, and was the youngest of three children. She attended Mercy High School in Detroit and graduated from Michigan State in 1976 with a degree in Economics.

Karen met her soul mate, David James Deneau in 1982. They were married shortly after on April 14, 1983 at Mercy College in Detroit. Together they had two children, Jack and Keri in Kalamazoo, MI. Karen had multiple careers throughout her life, she was lately self-employed as a tax preparer before retiring in 2019; but was most notably the CEO, CFO, and matriarch of the Deneau household. She enjoyed after work bowling leagues before the family moved to Swartz Creek. She then enjoyed camping with her family, golfing, and becoming a master gardener. Karen was an avid traveler, especially in her retirement. Together, she and David enjoyed taking trips across the country to visit their daughter, seeing over 40 different National Parks, and taking the back roads to see where the locals hang out. Karen was a spectacular wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a steadfast rock in our lives and her absence will be sorely noted. Our hearts ache that she was taken from us too soon.

Karen is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Keri (Dustin) Kent; sister Colleen (Bob) Warstler; brother, Patrick (Ursula) Casey; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jack; and parents, June and Fred Casey.
