June Brushaber-Glover

GLOVER, June Spence Brushaber - age 93, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, August 15, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint. Interment will be held at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and 10 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Avalon Hospice. June was born June 20, 1915 in Raber, MI, the seventh child of eleven to William James and Emily (Duncan) Spence. She left the Upper Peninsula after high school to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated from Hurley School of Nursing in 1938. June married W. Kenneth Brushaber on September 14, 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1989. After raising her daughter, Sharon and son, Thomas, June returned to work in 1958 as a nurse at Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing where she retired in 1985 at age 70 as the first women Nursing Supervisor. She then married Rex Glover in 1994 and he preceded her in death in 2006. June was very active in the community serving as a Girl Scout Leader and on the Board of Directors for the Fair Winds Council. She was a member of the Reviewer's Book Club and the International Business Girls and Industrial Nurses of America. June was an avid traveler as well as an antique dealer. Surviving are: daughter, Sharon Self; son, Thomas Brushaber and wife, Judy; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Gwen) Spence and Wilbert (Dorothy) Spence; many nieces and nephews.
