VEVERKA, Joyce Elaine- Age 92, of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Swartz Creek with Fr. David Harvey officiating. Visitation 11:00 AM- 1:30pm Wednesday, January 15 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek followed by a procession to the Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Joyce's memory would be appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society.
Joyce was born January 28, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of Antone and Relva (Hunter) Paffhausen. She married Louis James Veverka in Angola, IN in March of 1960. Joyce graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1951. She was an Artist who studied at The Flint Institute of Art where she received an award for her painting of the Leland, MI Harbor. Joyce was employed for 40 years in the Bindery Department of the Perry Printing Co. in Flint. She was a connoisseur of fine wine. Joyce was a loyal fan of MSU Football. She was selected as Miss Perry Printing and later nominated for Miss Flint competitions. Joyce was always the "Life of the Party!" She hosted many pool parties and enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and family in Houghton Lake. Joyce loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends. After retirement she loved traveling with her husband, Louis and friends. Later she enjoyed spending time in Northern Michigan. Joyce taught her children the love of fishing on Duck Lake in Grawn, MI.
Joyce is survived by her children, Greg (Gay) Veverka of Laingsburg, and Laura Veverka of Grawn, MI. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Veverka; brother, Antone Paffhausen, Jr.; and sister, Wanda Bryan. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
