Joyce Phelps

PHELPS, Joyce Evelyn - age 76, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Donnie Martin officiating. Interment will be held 1 PM Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Fair Dealing, MO. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday and 2-4 and 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice or Swartz Creek VFW Post. Mrs. Phelps was born September 2, 1931 in MO, the daughter of William and Ruth (Ponder) Jacks. She was a very active member of the Swartz Creek VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time in Northern Michigan where she had walked the Mackinaw Bridge several times. Surviving are: two daughters, Marla Martin; Carla Martin, both of Swartz Creek; 4 step-children, James (Roseann) Phelps of Harbor Springs, Sundra (Steve) Ortiz of Smyrna, TN, Kim (Bob) Mitchell of Corunna, Jacque (Bryan) Locascio of Linden; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Jacks of Bloomington, MO; sister, Bonnie Reeling of Salem, AR. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith in 2001 and husband, Ken in 2003; six siblings.
