Joyce was born March 30, 1931 in Detroit, the daughter of Clayton and Elsie (Dammes) Stein. She was always a good student and graduated salutatorian of her high school class.
She married the man of her dreams Dennis Richard Dawson on February 2, 1952 in Detroit. They made a life together for 72 wonderful years while also raising four children, which in itself serves as a testament to her caring nature.
Joyce went on to become a paralegal and worked for several law firms in the Detroit Metro area for many years. She also gave back to the community by volunteering her time to teach conversational English to foreign students. She was also active in the Girl Scouts. Joyce loved to travel in her later years and visited many European countries along with Russia and China. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed numerous authors.
She was a wife, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joyce was a very caring and loving person who always opened up her heart and house for everyone. She had a great sense of humor but also a serious side and was knowledgeable on a variety of subjects. Joyce will be missed but like her husband Dennis, lives on in the people she touched in life.
