Joseph "Joe" Bandy

Joseph "Joe" C. Bandy III, age 74, of Flushing, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, starting at 11AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 12PM at Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene, 7154 Morrish Road in Swartz Creek. Military Honors will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's name to the Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene. Joe was born on October 10, 1948, in Flint, Michigan to the late Joseph Jr. & Ellen Bandy. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1966. Joe proudly served his country in United States Navy. He married the love of his life, Gloria Smith on July 3, 1971, and were blessed with their daughters Melanie and Jennifer. Joe was a tool and die maker at General Motors for 30 years before retiring at 48 years old.

Joe was an "outdoorsman" who hunted, camped and was an avid fisherman. He was skilled at woodworking, cooking and developed the skill and knowledge in H.A.M. Radio Operations to acquire a license. His passion for H.A.M. Radio was passed down from his father; his handle was W8CVS. Joe and Gloria loved RV camping, berry picking and down time watching their favorite TV shows. He was an active church member to Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene where he was Trustee on the church board. Joe was a man of faith who studied scripture and always had a story to tell.

Joe is survived by his wife, Gloria; his two daughters, Melanie (Joe) Ingison and Jennifer (Michael) Karnes; four grandchildren, Grace (Marc) LaGrois, Matthew (girlfriend Audra Huige) Ingison, Bailey Karnes and Emma Karnes and his furry friend, Corky. He is further survived by other dear family members and many friends. In addition to his father, Joseph Jr. he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jewel and his in-laws, William & Joanne Smith.
