WHERRY, Joseph L, age 79, of Flint, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Genesys Health Park. Â Funeral Services will be held 1PM Monday, October 2, 2006 at First Apostolic Church, 11650 Church Street Mt. Morris, Pastor Joseph Carpenter Sr. officiating. Â Interment to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Â Visitation will be held 6-8PM Saturday and 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Â The family will receive friends 12PM until the time of service on Monday at the church. Â Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Â Joseph was born July 25, 1927 in Russellville, Kentucky, the son of Hardy Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth (Smotherman) Wherry. Â On December 20, 1947 he married Vonelle Costellow in Russellville Kentucky. Â Joseph and Vonelle moved to Michigan in 1948. Â He was employed by National Life Insurance Company. Â Joseph was a gifted musician, he was a singer, and played bass guitar by ear. Â He loved his family. Â Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vonelle; 4 children, Larry Wherry (Ruby) of Flint, Brenda Ownsby (James) of Tennessee, Lynette Dantzer (Charles) of Flint, Steven Wherry (Mary) of Genesee; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
