Joseph Earl WEISSEND

WEISSEND, Joseph "Earl" Jr.- Age 75, of Flint, died Sunday, September 4, 2011. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint. Father Robert Copeland celebrant. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, 10-2 PM & 4-8 PM Thursday Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and 10:00AM until the time of mass Friday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed 7:30 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Pius X Parish. Joseph was born May 15, 1936 in Cullman, AL, the son of Joseph Sr. and Sarah(Tucker) Weissend. He was a member of the UAW local 659 and retired from working skilled trades at General Motors in 1982. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish and the Independent Order of Foresters. He was also an avid skydiver, Harley rider and racecar driver. Surviving are wife of 57 years, Lucy; children, Johnny (Carol), Bruce, Sharon (Steve) Cox and Ronnie; 13 grandchildren, Tommy, Bobby, Mike, Paul, Rachael, Renee', Angela, Sam, David, Taylor, Karlee', Ronnie and Joey; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Paula), Billy (Toni), Robert, Wayne (Margaret), Sid (Sandy), Ricky (Betty), Tommy (Belinda) and Mike (Dorothy); many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his precious dog, Sadie.
