Joseph C. Shalla

Joseph C. Shalla passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in Fenton, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornell Victor; stepfather, Dick Shalla; mother, Yvonne Shalla; half-brother, Richard (Dick) Shalla; half-sister, Sandy Coyer; and beloved wife, Karen Shalla.

He is survived by his daughter, Erika (Bryan) DeGayner; his son, Ryan (Kristine) Shalla; and his cherished grandchildren: Jacob Iddings, Jameson DeGayner, Troy (Lexi) DeGayner, Tess DeGayner, Trent DeGayner, Ryan Shalla, Elizabeth Shalla, and Margot Shalla.

Joseph attended Austin Catholic Prep School and the University of Detroit Jesuit before proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1972. He later helped manage his stepfather’s Chevrolet dealership, Shalla Chevrolet, where he took great pride in his work.

An avid boating enthusiast, Joe loved spending time on the waters of Lake St. Clair with his family and wife, Karen. He was also passionate about racing-whether IndyCar, stock car, or anything in between. Above all, he deeply loved his children and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
