Joseph Edward Lockard

March 11, 1943 — November 18, 2006

Lockard, Joseph Edward - Age 63, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Brian's House Hospice Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday, November 22 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and 12PM until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Brian's House Hospice. Joseph was born March 11, 1943 in Flint, the son of William and Thelma (Underwood) Lockard. He married Deborah Stebbins on April 27, 1985 in Flint. Joseph was a 1961 graduate or Northern High School and was employed by Applied Industrial Technology for over 40 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Joseph was an avid golfer, and taught his three sons to golf, as well. He loved the outdoors,  camping, canoeing and playing cards. The family is glad to know Joseph died with a finished basement, after 20 years of effort. He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Swartz Creek; 4 children, Matthew (Holly) of Columbus, OH, Richelle (Michael) Verran of Swartz Creek, Timothy (Lindsay) of Columbus, OH, Brett (Laura) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Kevin and Jessica Verran; sisters, Lynda Lockard of Chicago, IL and Sue Lockard of Flint; brother, Michael Lockard of Chicago, IL; and many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Great Lakes Cancer Institute and Brian's House Hospice.
