FERRIS, Joseph, of Fenton, formerly of Flint, age 86. Retired Flint Police Department Detective Sergeant died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor. Mass of Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 11AM Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4101 Calkins Rd., Flint, with Father Jihad Younes celebrant. The family will receive friends 10AM Thursday until time of Mass at church. Interment will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 1-9PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, where an Incense Service will be prayed at 7PM. Mr. Ferris was born March 17, 1921 in Flint, the son of John and Geneva Ferris. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. Mr. Ferris retired from the Flint Police Department after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Â Our Lady of Lebanon Church and had been a local real estate agent. Â Mr. Ferris worked full time as an ad representative of Flint's "Your Magazine" up to the day before he was hospitalized. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and loved cooking Arabic food for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth; his children, David Ferris of Harrisburg, PA, Matthew Ferris and wife Dana of Fenton, Tony Ferris and wife Theresa of LA County, CA, Michael Ferris and wife Lori of Linden, Josephine Ferris of Fenton; sister, Margaret Haddix of Davison; grandchildren, Josiah, Jenna, Chase, Devin, Brianna, Alyssa, Charity, Mitchell, Molly, Mia; great-grandson, Elias and many nieces, nephews, Â great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Emma Deibis, Esther Tenn, Blanche Gaffir, Mary Holec, Julia Panchula, Eddie Ferris, Edna Kesanen, Michael Haddad and Dieb Haddad.
