Joseph Edgerton

Edgerton, Joseph J. -- Age 76, of Swartz Creek, died December 31, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday January 8 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location at Hill Creek Church, 5363 Hill Rd., Swartz Creek (Mundy Township). Pastor Cory Snyder officiating. Burial in Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday with a Fire Fighter Walk Through Salute at 7 PM and at 7:15 PM a Masonic Service under auspices of Byron Lodge #80 F&AM. at Hill Creek Church. Joseph was born April 23, 1942 in Battle Creek the son of Alexander William and Jessie Scott (Leighton) Edgerton. He married Candace Marie Edgeworth in Clio on March 20, 1971. Joseph was a Veteran of the U.S Air Force. He was the Secretary and Treasurer of the Michigan State Firemen Association. He was a Swartz Creek Fire Fighter for over 30 years, he was Assistant Fire Chief and Interim Fire Chief. He attended Riverdale Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Byron for over 30 years. Joseph also was a volunteer for the Salvation Army of Flint. He is survived by his wife, Candy; children, Jody Basso, Kristy Edgerton, Kevin (Dana) Edgerton, Travis (Sarah) Edgerton; 6 grand children, Jaelynn, Tori, Ava, Lexi, Lena, Liam; sister, Kay Withee.
