SWEETIN, Johnie Arthur, Sr. - Age 84, of Gaines formerly of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Road, Flint. Pastor David Hintz officiating. Burial Immediately following at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek from 1-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday and at church from 12 PM until time of service Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Childrens's Research Hospital. Johnie was born August 11, 1924 in Logan, IL, the son of Sydney and Mary (Hammers) Sweetin. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Wilma Marcella Hoover February 8, 1946 in West Frankfort, IL. Johnie retired from AC Spark Plug after 30 years of service. He was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years. Surviving are: wife, Wilma; daughter, Jill and husband Mark Cooper of El Lago, TX; son, Johnie, Jr. and wife Sheila Sweetin of Gaines; 5 grandchildren, Jodie Burteshaw of Flint Township, Jenny and husband Jeff Carr of Virginia, Jamie and husband Alan Johnston of Grand Blanc, Jeff and wife Chrissy Bundy of Arkansas, Joy Sweetin of Grand Blanc; 9 great grandchildren, A.J., Courtney, Brooklyn, Abby, Charlie, Sophia, Brock, Ethan and Maisy; brother, Bill Sweetin; 2 sisters, Mildred Carrilo and Betty Sweetin; several nieces and nephews.
