John was born on January 3, 1938, in Flint, Michigan to the late John Franklin Sr. & Daisy Wells (Loomis). He married Norene LePard in 1960 in Flint, Michigan. John was a member to the Masonic Lodge #556 F. &A. M. He was a tractor and antique car enthusiast; he loved car shows and had many of his own tractors. John was most known for is innate nature to serve others. John made it his life's purpose to help anyone who asked. His home had an opendoor policy and he was a friend to everyone he met. Through the many years John and Norene held many gatherings at their house, and they always seemed to get larger every year! Above all John cherished his family and spoiled his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He believed that all children should have a playful childhood filled with love.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years in marriage, Norene Wells; two children, Michelle "Shelly" (recently deceased Tim) Dikos and John Wells III; granddaughters, Danielle (Kurt) Chapelle and Rebekah "Becky" Dikos; great-grandchildren, Tyce Dikos, Saylor Chapelle, Maeve Chapelle and Solanus Henry-Timothy Chapelle and his sister, Melinda (Joe) Spicer. John is further survived by many other nieces, nephews and other dear family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.

In addition to his parents, John Franklin Sr. (Daisy) Wells, John was preceded in death by his six siblings, Lee, Sharon, Nick, Bill, Bruce and Barbara.
