John M. WARREN, SR.

WARREN, John Marion, Sr.- Age 85, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Duffield United Methodist Church. Pastor David Wichert officiating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Thursday from 6-9 PM, Friday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of service. A Order of Eastern Stars memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, followed immediately by a masonic memorial service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Duffield United Methodist Church. John was born November 19, 1926 in Rogers, AR, the son of James Oscar and Hattie Elizabeth (Fielding) Warren. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean wars serving in the U.S. Navy. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 1937. John married Thelma I. Cuatt September 6, 1947 in Durand. He had retired as the manager of Genesee Village Apartments and had also worked for Atkinson Construction, Goodman-Boggs Construction. He was a member of Duffield United Methodist Church, North Newberg Lodge #161 F.&A.M. and the Fenton Chapter #248 O.E.S. Swartz Creek. He was a master gardener MSU extension and was a volunteer and past board President of DVA Ambulance. Surviving are: wife, Thelma; 2 children, John Warren, Jr. of Florida and Paula Locke of Swartz Creek; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; former daughters-in-law, Sharon Warren of Florida and Irene Phillips of Florida; brother, Gerald and wife Margaret Warren of Swartz Creek; 2 sisters, Latisha Roberts of Mesa, AZ and Verna and husband Robert Boggs of Honor; several nieces and nephews.
