TYLAWSKI, John Peter - Age 84, of Flushing died April 11, 2015. Committal services will be held 12:30 PM Monday May 4 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery at 12:15 PM. John was born October 10, 1930 in Olyphant, PA. the son of Peter John and Victoria Stella (Pawlowski) Tylawski. He graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit. He earned a Bachelors degree from Wayne State University. He earned a Masters degree in Education Administration from University of Michigan, and a Masters degree in Counseling from Michigan State University. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps earning the rank of Corporal, and he served in Korea. He was an Educator and Counselor for the Flint Board of Education retiring in 1986 after 33 years of service. John was a member of Genesee Guidance and Placement Association, Michigan Association of School Placement Personnel (M.A.S.P.P.), Genesee Area Occupational Education Association (G.A.O.E.A.), Michigan Occupational Educational Association (M.O.E.A.), National Occupational Education Association (N.O.E.A.), Flint Personnel Association. He was also a member of Shiawassee County Posse, Veterans of Foreign War Post 4005, The Masonic Lodge, Alma Michigan and the "Scotland USA" Shriners Club and International Shrine Clown Association as "Dots" the clown. Surviving are daughter, Jennifer V. (Richard) Skornicka of Owosso; four grandchildren, Shanee Moran, Gabrielle Tylawski, Aaron Walimaki, Robert Skornicka; great grandson, Gavyn Lee Tylawski; sister, Jane (Gerald) Smith of Mt. Clemens, brother, Gerald (Robin) Tylawski of Perry; special niece, Karen (James) Cameron; devoted partner, Leslee Jakeway. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Christine Paonessa.
