John A. SPORER

SPORER, John A. - Age 84, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2009 at Tanglewood Assisted Living in Fenton. Born July 17, 1924 in Detroit to Anthony and Mary Sporer, John was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Kerwin) Sporer, whom he married on June 5, 1948. He is survived by siblings, Anne (Jerry) Burke, Clare (Sr. Jean Anthony, Bill (Mary) Sporer, Margaret (Bob) Jurn, Tony (Arlene) Sporer; children, James (Lois) Sporer, David (Kathryn) Sporer, Kathryn (Gordon) Preller, Anthony (Cheryl) Sporer, Ann (Steven) Arnodt, Richard (Anna Siemaszko) Sporer, Gregg (Martha) Sporer and Marina, a Belgian exchange student, who will remember him as her second Dad; eighteen grand-children, Kara (Shane), Jonathan (Kelly), Aaron, Amy (Jeff), Ben, Michael (Erin), Jamie, Heidi (Chris), Tyler, Nick (Samantha), Brian, Tony, Michael, Hannah, John, Eric, Trevor and Breeanne; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zoe and Tyler. John grew up in Detroit, MI, graduating from De La Salle Collegiate in 1942. He went on to serve his country in Europe during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He attended GMI before joining A.J. Sporer Plumbing and Heating, now a third generation family business. John, Mary and their large extended family spent summers at Runyan Lake near Fenton, since the early 1950s. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed camping trips with his children and river cruises with Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Adrian Dominican Sisters would be greatly appreciated.(Office of Development, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 48221-1793). The family wishes to thank the staff at Tanglewood Assisted Living for their extraordinary care for the past sixteen months. John will be remembered for his strong faith, kindness, patience and unconditional love. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11AM Saturday, April 25, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI, Rev. Fr. Bosco Padamattummal, celebrant.
